Easy instructions that will enable you to use PS4 DualSchock 4 controller on a computer

The new DualShock 4 controller for Sony’s PS4 is amazing gamepad which is both, comfortable to hold and responsive at the same time. However, what makes this gamepad really amazing is the fact that you can also use it on a Windows computer. Basically, this means that you do not even need a Playstation 4 console to experience the benefits of the DualShock 4. In matter of fact, all that you basically need is the DualShock 4 controller, a Windows computer and a software program which will allow you to use the DualShock 4 controller on the computer.

Because the PS4 controller is so sophisticated, in case you did not know, it is also possible to use it wirelessly, via a Bluetooth on your computer. How to use the PS4 controller on PC

This software program is called DS4 Windows, and it will allow you to use any PS4 controller on your Computer possible. This program will make your computer think that the connected DualShock 4 is an Xbox 360 controller, which is compatible on Windows OS.

The DS4 Windows will be downloaded in zipped file. Right click on it and select “Extract All”. Once you have extracted the files to a specific folder, you will notice that there are two files. The first one, labeled DS4Updater.exe is a program which will keep the DS4 Windows software program up to date with the newest updates and drivers so it is recommended that you run it.

The second file is DS4Windows.exe and it will install the program that will enable you to use the PS4 DualShock Controller on your computer.

The first time you run DS4 Windows, it will prompt you on where you would like to keep your settings and profiles. It is recommended of course that you use the default selection of “Appdata”. After this, a new window will open. Press PSN Code Generator which will allow you to use the PS4 DualShock controller in Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows 10. If you are currently using older Windows version like Windows 7, you will need to install the 360 driver too.

When you get at this point, you will need to connect the PS4 DualShock Controller with your computer. There are two ways to do this, use USB cable connection or connect it via Bluetooth. The USB connection is plain simple, you just need to use a standard Micro USB cable—You can use the one from your Smartphone charger. After you have connected your Dualshock 4 controller to your computer, Windows will automatically detect it, and right afterwards you can play your favorite PC games using the controller.

The PS4 DualShock 4 controller can also be used wirelessly. In this way you will have far more flexibility when playing games. To use it wirelessly all that you need to do is to find a computer or laptop that has Bluetooth receiver in it. Alternatively, you can also buy a Bluetooth USB dongle for a very cheap price of only $4.

To connect the DualShock 4 controller using Bluetooth, you need to press and hold on for a few seconds the central PS button along with the Share button, till you see that the light bar which is at the top of the controller start to flash. Afterwards, open the Bluetooth settings on your Computer. If you use Windows 10 PC, press on the speech bubble icon which is located in the Taskbar at the bottom right corner of the screen. This will open the Action Center. From Action Center, select “Bluetooth” click on it and after that select “wireless Controller”. You may be prompted to enter a pair code. If asked, just type in 0000. And that’s it; the DualSchock 4 controller now should be connected to your computer.
